Grocery Program
With numerous families struggling to make ends meet, GNG saw an opportunity for many of its volunteers to get involved. If we all added a few extra groceries to our cart once a month, we could ease the burden of a handful of families. The call to help was met with an amazing 35 families interested in participating. This number now approaches 60. To date, GNG helps 25 families, all identified through We Care and Friends and other trustworthy referral sources. Many of these are families that fall between the cracks of other social service organizations, families that are not used to asking for help, and families that need help on a temporary basis.
If you would like to participate, please contact me through the email link. We will assign you a grocery item to be dropped off in Severna Park by the last day of each month. Grocery items needed are any of the following:
*evaporated milk, boxed milk, powdered milk
*canned tuna, chicken, beef stew, salmon, bean soup, canned beans, dry beans, baked
beans, canned chili, peanut butter
*canned vegetables, vegetable soup, canned tomato products, spaghetti sauce, V-8
canned fruit, dried fruit, raisins, applesauce, 100% fruit juice
*rice, rice mixes, dry pasta, canned pasta, mac & cheese, cold cereal, hot cereal mix,
oatmeal, bread and muffin mixes, granola bars, whole grain crackers, corn meal,
flour
*toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues
*liquid and bar hand soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent, cleaning products,
shampoo, shaving cream, razors, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tampons,
sanitary napkins
*tea, coffee, spices, syrup, honey, sugar, jelly, mayonnaise, vegetable oil, salad dressing
